Meet our January's Master of the Month…
Describe your typical day of eating and drinking.
I don't have typical anythings… as a single mum, my days are determined by what my daughter's doing… we have very little routine. I like to have green juice, some probiotic food or drink, some raw chocolate or smoothie with superfoods and lots of big green salads in my day, alongside a small amount of sweet fruit.
What (or who) inspires you to eat well and stay healthy?
My daughter. I want to be the best for her, so she can mirror that and be the best for herself. I guess beyond that, I want to remain an inspiration to others, so we have more inspired and inspiring people in the world. One hand up, one hand down… We're all in it together.
What is your biggest weakness when it comes to food and how do you deal with that?
I'm not organised. I am like that in all aspects of my life, and it drives me crazy sometimes. I often go out for the morning, end up out all day and can't find a thing to eat where I am. I used to carry raw food around with me in my bag but that's been replaced by my girl's things. So I deal with it by not telling myself off (it's how I am), by eating what I can when I can, and by always eating super super healthy at home because somehow my fridges are usually quite abundant.
My top tip for:
Improving your diet is… eat at least 50% (In weight) of your food raw at every meal so you get all the raw benefits.
Staying healthy while travelling is… keep hydrated. Water is more important than food. You can also easily add dried green powders and superfoods to water for instant nourishment, and it weighs barely anything.
Detoxing is… to enjoy it. I have written a lot on detox, and it’s so important (we should do it lots and forever) that it’s worth finding the ones you love so it’s not a chore. How about an infra red sauna, a lymph drainage massage, a tip-toe in the sea, an algae wrap or an enema?!
Immunising is… building up a strong terrain (full term breastfeeding, herbs, living naturally, grounding etc) so that pathogens can’t take hold.
What’s the nicest thing anyone has ever said to you?
Oh god! People say lovely things to me all the time, maybe I just have lovely friends and family? Strangers who know my work tell me that I'm a real inspiration, that their lives changed radically when they got involved in my stuff and that I probably don't realise how much I've changed the world with all the work I've done. It's probably true, too. I don't know, but I remember life before raw chocolate and so I'm well chuffed with that ;-)
How would you like to be remembered?
"She had a heart big enough to hold all of us"
If you got to keep only 3 of your belongings: 1 thing from your kitchen, 1 thing from your garden and 1 thing from your bookshelf- what would they be?
VitaMix (OBVS!!!) My deck (I sunbathe on it, it's against my glass south facing wall so any time it's sunny, even in winter, it's warm enough to sunbath on it. A very clever bit of divine planning, I think!) The Book Of Secrets, Osho
If you could host a dinner party for 3 guests (dead or alive)- who would they be and what would you serve?
Russell Brand — I'd serve me. I've got a free pass from my BF to have a bit of Russell, should the opportunity ever arise! Peace Pilgrim — Warm green raw soup and a foot massage John Lennon — Durian, because it's white. Imagine all the duriasms…
Why do you believe that life is Better Raw?
Ah, I've been a veggie all my adult life, a vegan for 26 years, and raw for 14 years. I eat raw because I like feeling high-energy. I am releasing enough "stuff" from my ancestral line without putting more in by eating animals! I don't judge people who do, but I don't want that for me. I want to keep this juicy, alive, inspired and visionary way of living, so my food choices have to reflect that.
